Since its creation in 1984, the museum has developed a publishing line with the graphic designer Ruedi Baur. A box set of 12 catalogues was published at the same time as the first Octobre des Arts (October of Arts) took place.
The editions soon became integrated with the creational practices of the museum. Just a few examples are the Collection « un livre / une œuvre » (“one book/one work”) with Jean-Luc Parant, Robert Irwin, Robert Morris and Ilya Kabakov, and the monographs on Sarkis, Kimsooja and Cai Guo-Qiang, co-published with 5 continents.
There is also a desire to confront ideas and to open up the world of contemporary art to the thoughts of key figures from diverse backgrounds such as the philosopher François Jullien (Cai Guo-Qiang catalogue) or the publication of the acts of the symposium “Contemporary art: artistic fields, criteria, reception” as part of l’Art sur la Place (Art in the Square) 1998.
